Enjoy an enchanted evening with Clackamas Rep’s production of classic musical, South Pacific

Talented cast, 10-piece band and pre-show lectures bring the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical to life

OREGON CITY, Ore. — June 27, 2019 — Clackamas Repertory Theatre presents Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific, one of America’s most beloved musicals, August 1 – 25 at Osterman Theatre on the campus of Clackamas Community College in Oregon City. Performances take place Thursday – Saturday at 7:30pm, with 2:30pm Sunday matinees. Tickets may be purchased at www.clackamasrep.org or by calling (503) 594-6047.

Spectacular scenery will transport audiences to a remote South Pacific island of beauty and intrigue, where they will enjoy performances by Clackamas Rep’s talented cast of more than 30 and a 10-piece band. The cast will perform classics Some Enchanted Evening, This Nearly Was Mine, There’s Nothing Like a Dame, Bali Hai, I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair and more.

Co-directed by Jayne Stevens and Wesley Robert Hanson, the directorial team behind Clackamas Rep’s 2018 smash hit production of Annie, the cast includes a wide variety of talent, including an Oregon City High School student. The production features Michael Sharon, a regional Equity actor who has worked for Portland Center Stage, Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, as the cultured Frenchman Emile de Bec. Other cast members include Kelly Sina as Nellie, Matthew Brown as Cable and Kelsey Hoeffel as Bloody Mary.

Clackamas Rep’s production team includes Lars Campbell, Music Director; Stephanie Smith, Vocal Director; Chris Whitten, Technical Director; Jeff Peterson, Sound Designer; Grace O’Malley, Costume Designer; and, Micah Steury and Jennifer Jett, Properties Designers.

To enhance the audience’s experience, Clackamas Rep will provide a pre-show lecture on World War II and U.S./Japan relations one hour before each performance by Dr. Jackie Flowers, a U.S. History professor at Clackamas Community College, and actor/director talkbacks following the Friday night performances on August 9, 16 and 23.

The August 2 performance is sold out. There will be a low-cost preview on August 1 and an opening night post show reception in the lobby on August 3.
